How do you know when summer is truly upon us?? It has nothing to do with a calendar but everything to do with Lightning bugs (Fireflies to you Yankees)! I have seen several coming up from the grass as dusk hits. Soon the air will be filled with their tiny lights. Some of my best memories from childhood is catching lightning bugs before bed every summer! Did you know that in a lightning bugs tail, you’ll find two chemicals: luciferase and luciferin. Luciferin is heat resistant, and it glows under the right conditions. A lightning bug has one of the most efficient lights in the world!!!
