It’s a bone chilling 19 degrees on the mountain this morning who knows what it is with the wind chill. And while the cold is uncomfortable the silence it has brought with it is pleasant. There is a still, calmness to the cold. No noise of passing trucks from the other side of the property. Not a tail light in sight over the distant valley. Not even the birds are out this morning. Everything seems to be tucked away in the cold silence waiting for some warmth. Perhaps God is telling us to sit back and be still. To look within ourselves and find our joy. All I know is that from my spot on the couch in the lodge I am surrounded by the stark beauty of the cold winter morning without having to leave the warmth. Definitely a mountaintop advantage as well as the advantage of lots of large windows!
