It was about 7:30, once it had cooled off when I decided to head down the driveway. You see, my little friends had been telling me about school and how they needed to have “supplies”. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t terribly excited, after all this place called school sounded really fun! As I made my way toward the main road, Kris and Charlie started calling for me. I looked over my shoulder and gave them the “you can come with me” look. Perhaps they too needed school supplies. I have to be honest, they look a little old to be going to school, but I guess you are never too old to learn something new.
I kept trudging along determined to get my shopping done. Kris and Charlie continued their calling. I figured they would catch up with me eventually. All I could think about was that Batman lunch box. I started thinking that maybe I would get a Batman book bag as well. I do have a sense of flair, and I think the ensemble would be a stand-out.
The next thing I know, I am confronted by Charlie with a rake in his hand. I have to admit I was surprised; I am mostly a non-violent guy. He sternly asked that I return to the pasture immediately. I resisted at first, as I felt my errand was of great importance. Maybe he has something against education? I can’t imagine showing up on the first day of class without being properly prepared.
He was adamant, so I slowly turned around and made my way back up the hill. I guess I should plan better; I did get a late start on the trip. Perhaps if I promise to share my Batman lunch box with Kris and Charlie then they will be more supportive of the plan.
I can’t wait until the first day of school. I wonder who my teacher will be.
